Earth Day 2013

Happy Earth Day! Today is a day to consider your part in conserving energy, minimizing waste, and protecting our planet’s natural resources.

To commemorate Earth Day and do our part to conserve a little extra, we will be shutting the lights off in the office from 12 to 1 p.m.

According to NSTAR, 29% of energy use in non-residential buildings is used for lighting. If you turn off the lights whenever you leave a room, you can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.15 pounds per hour.

Here are a few other ways you can help conserve energy, not just today—but every day!

  • Set the power management settings on your PC. Click the links below to learn how:
    • Windows 7
    • Windows XP
  • Re-use your coffee cup when getting a refill.
  • Unplug your cell phone once it is fully charged.

Spread the word and spread the message. Happy Earth Day, everyone!
