Introduced by Sun Microsystems in 1986, Sun SPARC is an open source scalable architecture that allows implementations to scale from embedded processors through large server processors, sharing the same core instruction set. The Sun SPARC architectural parameters allow from three (3) to thirty-two (32) register windows be implemented. To reduce context switching time, as few as three (3) windows may be utilized or as many as thirty two (32) may be implemented to provide maximum call stack efficiency.
