Reuse, Recycle, or Dispose?
Your decommissioned assets may have no use in your data center, but that doesn’t mean they’re garbage. When Centrics ITAD begins an IT recycling project, the first consideration is always the greenest—can this asset be reused or repurposed?
The EPA Hierarchy
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emphasizes adherence to the Waste Management Hierarchy. Centrics ITAD abides by the steps illustrated in this hierarchy, and every effort is made to repurpose, reconfigure, or otherwise reuse all IT assets before considering them for recycling or disposal.
Many machines and components can have a second life with a few simple upgrades or refurbishments, which Centrics ITAD manufacturer-certified engineers perform in-house. When this is the case, your assets go from e-waste articles to remarketable products.
For components that are true candidates for recycling, Centrics ITAD takes every step required to guarantee EPA-compliance and environmentally responsible recycling practices. All recycling of non-hazardous materials and e-waste is performed by a certified ISO14001/R2 certified recycler.
Disposal is considered a last resort,. For all disposal projects, Centrics ITAD adheres to a strict zero-landfill policy, even for non-hazardous materials. Once crushed and shredded, raw e-waste materials are responsibly recycled.
